Children Now Statement on Gov. Newsom’s Proposed 2020-21 Budget
OAKLAND, CA— Children Now President Ted Lempert issued the following statement today in response to Governor Newsom’s 2020-21 proposed budget:
“California ranks near the bottom of the country on nearly all indicators of child well-being. Therefore, it is critical that every available dollar goes to kids. We applaud the Administration’s whole child focus and that the Administration’s proposal includes some important investments. However, there should have been more significant investments focused on kids, both one-time and on-going dollars, for improvements to the early childhood, education, children’s health and foster care systems. We look forward to seeing significantly increased investments in the final budget.”
