Lizzy Velthoen (she/her) serves as one of the 2024 Children’s Movement equity fellows. She is excited to deepen her understanding of advocacy and outreach efforts and learn more about policy implementation.
Velthoen is currently completing her B.A. in political science at California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, where she is concentrating in pre-law and has minors in women and gender studies as well as sociology. Prior to joining Children Now, Velthoen served as a volunteer at her University’s sexual violence and prevention program known as Safer, where she has worked to advance social justice initiatives on campus. Velthoen is currently working with University staff to engage in research surrounding neuroinclusion and the implementation of resilience rooms in her local community.
