California is facing a crisis: we rank near the bottom of states when it comes to our kids. And, education is where California is furthest behind other states.
Our K-12 schools have larger class sizes, fewer counselors and nurses, stripped-down course offerings, and fewer support services than almost every other state. Additionally, early learning has never been sufficiently prioritized. And, even with higher education, California, once heralded for its historic master plan, now trails many states in terms of investments and outcomes.
The Children’s Movement of California is calling on the Governor and Legislature to place a comprehensive revenue measure solely focused on education – quality child care, preschool, K-12 and higher education – on the 2020 ballot. More than 275 Pro-Kid organizations have shown their support by signing on to a letter urging state leaders to increase investments in education.
