Children Now President Ted Lempert Honored with Florette Angel Memorial Child Advocacy Award
Bestowed by The Partnership for America’s Children, the Award Honors Leadership in Championing Children

OAKLAND, CA — Children Now’s President Ted Lempert is the recipient of the 2024 Florette Angel Memorial Child Advocacy Award, given by The Partnership for America’s Children. The award will be presented during the organization’s 10th Anniversary Celebration Dinner on September 12, 2024, in Little Rock, Arkansas in recognition of Lempert’s exemplary leadership in advocating for the well-being of children.

The Florette Angel Memorial Child Advocacy Award, named after the late West Virginia child advocate Florette Angel, is awarded annually to an executive director of a child advocacy organization who has demonstrated outstanding leadership in articulating the needs of children and successfully advocating for public policies that improve their lives, with a particular focus on children living in poverty.

“I am deeply honored to receive this award for the work our entire team at Children Now has done to deliver systematic policy change for California’s kids,” said Lempert. “Our kids deserve a future where they can reach their full potential with no limitations and where every child has the opportunity to thrive and succeed.”

As President of Children Now, Lempert has helped achieve major policy wins for kids, including historic school equity finance reform, health coverage for California undocumented kids, expanded access to child care and preschool, and significant changes to the child welfare system. Lempert also helps lead The Children’s Movement of California, the most powerful and diverse network advocating for kids in the country, with over 5,600 organizations across the state that care about kids and help drive policy changes through collective action campaigns.
