Jenny McLelland is a dedicated healthcare and disability justice advocate, driven by her experiences as the mother of a medically complex, technology-dependent child. With a background in Public Policy and Criminology, and eight years as a Fresno police officer, Jenny applies her deep understanding of laws and systems to fight for equitable healthcare policies. She serves on the Medi-Cal Members Advisory Committee and collaborates with Little Lobbyists, advocating nationally for medically fragile children. As a writer for the California Health Report, she highlights critical issues affecting children and youth with special healthcare needs. Her current focus is on improving California’s HCBA Waiver, which provides Private Duty Nursing but suffers from access limitations due to policy failures. She also works on home nursing issues, including Medi-Cal reimbursement rates and barriers to care, ensuring that children receive the support they need.
