Sara Bachez is the Director, Education Policy and Advocacy for Children Now and provides analytical and strategic support on early learning through transitional to grade 12 education accountability and finance policy issues.

Sara joins us from First 5 California, where she served as the Deputy Director of External and Governmental Affairs Office for First 5 California, overseeing legislative, policy, public relations, and communications initiative and staff. From 2015-2022, Sara served as the Chief Governmental Relations Office for the California Association of School Business Officials (CASBO). In that capacity, she represented over 24,000 school business officials on federal and state matters impacting public education. Sara begin her career as a budget consultant for the Assembly Budget Committee, working on early education and higher education fiscal issues.

Sara received a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Master of Business Administration from California State University, Sacramento.
